Issues that may be in dispute can range from where the children are to live – Residence Orders, to when and where children are to see their non-resident parent – Contact Order. Other Orders may involve limits on what a parent can do (not to take the child out of the country) – Prohibitive Steps Orders or particular or unusual issues relating to a child’s care – Specific Issue. All matters can be settled by the Court by way of detailed orders set out by a family Judge, however, it is often better for parties to enter into Mediation and to negotiate matters as such agreed orders often work best.
The Courts will always seek to make orders that are in the child’s best interests and will always ensure that the child’s welfare is paramount.
